Marjorie Calderón

Marjorie-Calderón-GuerreroPresident of the Social Cassation Chamber. She earned a law degree from the Central University of Venezuela. In her 24-year career in the Venezuelan judiciary, we can highlight a fact that marked her career in the public eye: she was responsible of sentencing to 30 years in prison commissioners Iván Simonovis, Henry Vivas and Lázaro Forero for the events of April 11, 2002. Former president of the Criminal Chamber, Eladio Aponte Aponte, who was removed and has been linked to a drug trafficking network, confessed that he himself wrote the sentences that were subsequently endorsed by Calderón against the commissioners. In the list of acknowledgments in her curriculum vitae there is one awarded by the Permanent Commission for Tourism and Recreation of the Legislative
