Jesús Jiménez Alfonzo

Justice of the Social Chamber of the Supreme Court appointed on December 23, 2015 by the National Assembly. He served as Judge No.20 of the Criminal Judicial Circuit of Caracas. However, his profile does not show up in the searcher of the Supreme Court. He is known for participating in media-resonant cases like that of journalist Leocenis García, who was in a hunger strike in 2010 to reject «vices» that he claimed were affecting his trial. Garcia was charged with illegal possession of firearms, resisting arrest, conspiracy and extortion. His defence denounced the court for «violating human rights and due process» of his client. File AP61D2011000347 of the Judicial Disciplinary Court of Caracas (http://jdj.gob.ve/decisiones/decisionestribunal2012/FEBRERO2012/TDJ-SD-2012-57%20AP61-D-2011-000347%2008-02-2012.pdf) shows another complaint against Judge Alfonzo for «multiple deferrals» of the hearing of an inmate of Rodeo I penitentiary. In this case, the final verdict of the Disciplinary Court was the dismissal of the case after verifying that «delays are not attributable to the judge subject to these proceedings, since there were established facts that prevented the transfer of the alleged suspect to public trial.”
