Justice Indira Maira Alfonzo Izaguirre, born in La Guaira, Vargas, is the second vice president of the Supreme Court of Justice for the period 2015-2017.

She was nominated instead of Delcy Rodríguez, sister of Mayor Jorge Rodríguez and former Minister of Communication and Information, after it was reported from the National Assembly that Rodriguez gave up his nomination. Her biography published on the website of the Supreme Court indicates that she began her career in public service as a legal assistant at the Congress. Since then, she held various positions in the legislature and then at the National Electoral Council, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Ministry of the Office of the President and Venezolana de Cementos under the Ministry of Industries, as a legal consultant and judicial representative.
She started at the Supreme Court in 2010 as first alternate and then she became a regular judge in September 2014. She is a lawyer who graduated from Santa Maria University, specialising in Criminal Law and has a Master’s degree in Criminal Sciences and Teaching in Higher Education.
