Fue magistrado del Tribunal Supremo de Justicia (TSJ) desde 2005. Fue nombrado en 2008 vicepresidente de la Sala Constitucional y desde entonces ocupó cargos directivos en el máximo juzgado.
Se graduó de abogado en la Universidad del Zulia en 1969 y también es licenciado en Relaciones Industriales. Además de su carrera como abogado y juez, Carrasquero es recordado por su papel como presidente del Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE) durante el periodo 2003-2005, un periodo difícil para el entonces presidente Hugo Chávez.
Carrasquero dejó el CNE señalando debilidades en las condiciones de los derechos de los trabajadores. Fue rector de la Universidad Nacional Experimental Rafael María Baralt del estado Zulia durante cuatro años (1996-2000) y se desempeñó como juez principal del Tribunal del Trabajo y Tránsito del estado Zulia. Carrasquero trabajó como profesor durante más de 30 años en varias universidades, incluida su alma mater.
Francisco Antonio Carrasquero López
Justice of the Supreme Court since 2005. He was appointed in 2008 Vice President of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), and since then has held managerial positions within the court.
He graduated as a lawyer from the University of Zulia in 1969 and also holds a degree in Industrial Relations. Besides his career as a lawyer and judge, Carrasquero is remembered for his role as President of the National Electoral Council (CNE) during the term 2003-2005, a period of difficulty for the then-President Hugo Chávez.
Carrasquero left the CNE pointing out weaknesses in the conditions of workers’ rights. He served as Chancellor of the National Experimental University Rafael Maria Baralt of the state of Zulia for four years (1996-2000) and served as chief judge of the Labour and Transit Court in the State of Zulia. Carrasquero worked as a teacher for more than 30 years in various universities, including his alma mater.
